1st Day of 1st Grade

Wow what a day! Jacob started first grade today. He woke up this morning and for the first time said he was so worried with tears in his eyes. It pierced my heart because I was worried for him. When we were ready we all went out the door and took a few pictures of course! He ran to the bus stop and the cameras were flashing. He was pretty quiet there which is not like him at all. He got on the bus and and Abby just stared in disbelief as Jacob disappeared behind the big yellow bus. I think she was confused about what was going on. She played with the rocks at our neighbors house while all the moms visited.

When we got home I turned on the tv and a commercial came on with a little boy about Jacob's age and she went running to the tv yelling, "Jacob! Jacob!" Then she took the picture off the table and said his name again. I wasn't sure what to do so we dusted and I cleaned the bathroom. We had lunch and then Abby went down for a nap. It was so quiet. I uploaded some pictures to facebook, talked to my mom and then a friend.

I waited at the bus stop for about 30 minutes before the bus came. He got off the bus went running by me to see to go play with a friend. I took some more pictures of him and then let him go.

We had dinner and packed his lunch for tomorrow. He had an ice cream sandwich that Jay picked up for him and we talked about his day. He showed us a mouse he made at school and a picture he colored. He talked all about his day and how he got off the bus with Nathan and together they found their classrooms. He was excited about school and all the things he did. He played freeze tag in gym class and was only tagged one time. He was so proud. So was I! When the ice cream sandwich was gone we all went to bed. Jacob fell asleep very quickly.

I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!

Swimming Lessons

Today was Jacob's first day of swimming lessons. He woke up very crabby and didn't want to go. Once he was there he had a great time. He did very well following directions and when his teacher had him floating on his back and kicking his legs he laid back perfectly with his head in the water! I was such a proud mom. He had a little trouble when he had to put his face in the water and kick going forward. We forgot to bring his goggles. We will remember tomorrow. He jumped off the movable diving board with lots of excitement and with out much fear. I remember last year he was a little apprehensive. I can't wait to see him jump off the diving board at the deep end of the pool.

He is very excited to go back tomorrow.

We like God A lot

Today while we were eating lunch Jacob asked about a picture we have hanging in our dining room. It is a picture of a country chapel in a mountain setting by Thomas Kincaid. He talked about the angels we have under the picture on the desk and the cross we have hanging on the wall. He asked if we have all these things so that when people come over they will know that we like God a lot. What a precious and sweet observation. I want us to continue teaching him so that he will know the Lord very intimately throughout his life.

We Love Her We Love Her

Abby is 17 months old and full of wonder and exploration. I took her out in the back yard today to take some pictures of her in her sweet little dress and her hair in two little pigtails on top of her head. She didn't sit still for long. She sat in her tiny andirondak chair, which she loves and ran around the yard. She smelled the flowers and picked some daisies too.

She is so precious and fills our days with such joy. We are truly blessed to have her in our family.

She loves her baby that she got from her Grandma Pat and Grandpa Art for her first birthday. She carries it around and pats it on the pack and says oh baby oh with such drama. It is the cutest thing you will ever see. I have yet to get a picture of this or even some video. I need to before she stops doing it.

She says lots of words. We have lost count. These are the ones that come to my mind right now.

Quack Quack

Pancake

Jacob

Daddy

Gracie

Grandpa

no no

diaper

shoes

baby

cracker

I know there are more but they just have slipped my mind right now.

She is a delight and fills our days with laughter.

The Chicks have hatched!

Today we went to a volunteer breakfast at Jacob's school. It was lots of fun. We sat with Kristen and Hunter and had donuts, yogurt and fruit. They had a drawing for yellow lillies and my name was drawn. Jay said it can be planted in the yard and it will come back each year. I want to do this so that it will remind me of Jacob's kindergarten year.

When breakfast was over we stopped in his classroom to see the chicks. The kids were so excited they could hardly contain themselves. Some of the eggs they had been watching and looking at with a special light to see the inside had hatched!

It was so exciting. Jacob had been giving us a chick update everyday after school and he was so excited that they had hatched.

It was also our last day of MOPS for the year. It was a quiet morning and I am so glad it is done for the summer. I had a very hard time getting excited about it this year. Not sure why. I will need to take some time to pray and think about it.

Fun Day

Today Jacob and I went outside while Abby was napping and we practiced riding his new bike and he played on his scooter for a while. Then he decided he wanted to draw with chalk. So we drew a whole universe with a rocket ship, an astrounaut, planets, stars and a space station. This is Jacob adding an army tank to the picture!

While we were drawing with chalk Jay came home and Jacob decided to help his dad in the back yard. Which was just in time for me to go in and make supper and to get Abby out of her crib from her nap. She sat in the kitchen with me eating crackers and feeding some to Gracie while I made homemade mini pizzas for supper before we went to Jacob's first soccer game.

Jacob's first soccer game was lots of fun. They played a full team of girls in pink t-shirts. It was very windy and got so cold the kids didn't even drink much of their waters. Jacob was more interested in free play with the Hunter's soccer ball and brothers during the times that he did not play. I'm not sure if he really likes it, but we will finish out the season. Hopefully, we can make it to June 21st!

A new blog

Today I decided to start a new blog to record daily memories of my kids as they grow up. Jacob is 6 and Abby is 1. Everyday is a new experience. Tonight Abby discovered Mommy's toes. Which was fun at first until she tried to bite them. She giggled and giggled when I pulled them away, but still kept trying to get them again. She is a determined little girl.

We had a busy and packed morning. A friend dropped her three boys off at our house at 8:00 am so she could go to a meeting. When she returned we went to the park and played. It was so much fun to see the kids run, climb and go down the slides. They had such a great time and looked like they were enjoying their freedom. It was a beautiful day. It was also the first time that Abby got to play on some equipment. She went on the swing and loved it. She tried to climb the steps at the toddler park but was very hesitant.

After a wonderful time at the park we went to McDonald's for lunch. The kids had a great time eating together in their own booth. Then they went to play in the Playland. Jacob saw a little boy pull down his pants and had poop running down his leg. He came running out asking where the bathroom was. He proceeded to vommit all over the floor. There was a lady and her son eating a booth away and she just glared at us. Something like this must not have ever happened to her before. It was awful.

Later we went to Target to get some food for supper and to buy something with Jacob's tooth fairy money. He lost a tooth the Friday before Easter and the Monday after on the top. He chose Walkie Talkies and has had a great time playing with them tonight. Will try to post pictures at the park and Mc Donald's tomorrow.

Jay is at a sleep test tonight. I hope he is doing okay. I am praying for him as he had some anxiety before he left tonight. I can't wait to see him in the morning!
